I’m a journalist, photographer and documentary filmmaker from Cape Town, South Africa. This is an online showcase of my varied work.
Apart from working as a journalist, I’m also an advocate for improving journalism. I’m a founding member and board member of the International Association of Religion Journalists, a global network of journalists promoting excellence in the coverage of religion and spirituality. For more information on this association, view its website http://www.theiarj.org/
Over the years I’ve also been involved in various capacities in the creative sector. I’m presently a board member of the Association for Visual Arts (AVA) located in Cape Town. This is a non-profit, membership-based arts organisation whose primary aim is the advancement and promotion of South African contemporary art and artists. I’m on the AVA gallery’s selection committee.
I’ve participated in artist residencies in my pursuit for creativity. Two notable residencies I’ve participated in are the Thupelo residency with Greatmore Studios (see more at www.greatmoreart.org) in Cape Town and the Open Lab residency in Bloemfontein, South Africa. In 2017, I was selected to showcase work at Infecting the City (see more at http://infectingthecity.com/), a public arts festival in Cape Town.
I’ve participated in a number of solo and group photographic exhibitions and produced a number of short documentary films and videos. Notably, I was the production manager on the multiple award-winning film Miners Shot Down (see more at http://www.minersshotdown.co.za/)
In 2014, I released Imagina na Copa (Imagine the Cup), a self-funded documentary film about protests in Brazil against Fifa’s Soccer World Cup in that country.
In 2015, I released Inside Kobane, a self-funded documentary film about the impact of Islamic State violence on locals in the Syrian town Kobane.
I’ve lived and worked in various parts of the world. If you need a journalist, editor, photographer or someone to work on your documentary films feel free to get in contact via firstname.lastname@example.org
